I downloaded Feed Demon at work yesterday, because I had heard about it on a couple of places on the web. I'm starting to like the interface, and in fact prefer it over SharpReader (which I was using previously) and the other newsreaders I have used on MacOS X, like Shrook and NetNewsWire Lite.

I just added the WP-Breadcrumb plugin to my WordPress installation, thanks to Mark. It's positioned at the very top of the page right now, above the title, which is a bit weird. I'll have to add in another DIV tag to place it below the title.
Hopefully it'll aid in navigation for the site…
Joshua Allen writes about the "Orange XML Icon" and how it isn't accessible, in response to a post by Robert Scoble. He also suggests that browsers should include functionality to make RSS/Atom/News feeds easier to use.
I'm not sure if he's aware of this, but OmniWeb 5 (currently in beta, and only on MacOS X) actually does this. On a page where an RSS feed is available, an icon (a newspaper with a "+" symbol) appears in the status bar of the window, as seen below:
You can then click on the icon to display a list of feeds available on that page!
I believe there is an inbuilt newsreader in OmniWeb 5, but I've never used it. It would be cool if you could then pass these feeds to your newsreader of choice.
I think this is a step forward, but he is right in saying that RSS/Atom/whatever feeds should be easier to use.
I just got a phone call from Lucy telling me that the Krispy Kreme store is now open in the city. I think it's in York Street. Apparently the line is huge and is stretching from the store to Wynyard station. Crazy…
Previously, the only stores (that I know of) were in Liverpool and Blacktown, which aren't very close to the city (or me). Next time I'm in the city, I'll have to grab some. Sooo tasty, but so bad for you…
I check the 3 site today, and noticed that the LG u8110 mobile has been released! I was told about this a couple of weeks ago, and how it was a very good phone and much, much better than the other phones on 3, including the NEC e616, which has had many software problems, or so I'm told.
It seems to have everything I need: SMS, Colour display, Bluetooth, SyncML, speakerphone. As far as I'm aware, it will work with Bluetooth headsets, so I could use the Sony Ericsson one I currently have. It's about the same size as my SE Z600, but my only issue is the aerial, which I've always disliked.
I'm very, very tempted to get one, partially because of the phone, but also because the 3 phone plans are quite cheap compared to everyone else. I could go on a $55/month plan and select the "30% off Talk" bonus, and end up paying 16c/30 seconds + 25c flagfall, which is pretty good. A couple of days ago, I switched from my Vodafone 60+ plan to a Vodafone Red Sim Monthly Plan, with a minimum of $50 per month. I end up paying 15c/30 seconds, with 20c flagfall and 20c SMS. I can also call any other Vodafone mobile for 20c (with no flagfall) for a maximum of 200 minutes per month. Lucy is on Red Sim Prepaid, so it's extremely handy. Because of that, I don't think I'll switch to 3 right now, but it's very, very tempting…
Courtesy of Engadgeted.net: Ouch… Whether it was the fault of the SMS company sending the wrong message, or the student keying in the wrong number (I don't see how, as their results are probably protected by a student number and randomly selected PIN, like in Australia), that's a massive overreaction to something that probably isn't that important in the long run. The post on textually.org mentions that there is significant pressure for teenagers to do well in their exams, which would have had something to do with it.

Quite hilarious. According to the article, people don't usually set foot on the island because of the volcano, and the web cam is situated inside the crater, so the perps would have to have known about it before getting there.
