I've got a spare GMail invite. If anyone wants one (if anyone actually reads this site!), the person with the first comment and a valid email address will get it. I'm not going to be impressed if someone searches for a G M a i l i n v i t e, and comes up with this site, though, to claim it.
I know, I know, every man and his dog can get a GMail address now. Oh well.
(Mat, you don't count, as you already have one.
)
UPDATE: Please note that I don't have any more invites, so asking for them in the comments isn't likely to get you one. Sorry!
Dave Hyatt clears up what Dashboard is based on. According to him: "They are Web pages, plain and simple (with extra features thrown in for added measure)… you have the full power of WebKit behind each one… CSS2, DOM2, JS, HTML, XMLHttpRequest, Flash, Quicktime, Java, etc." Nice.
Over at OSNews, there's an article on MacOS X "Tiger" by Jean-Baptiste Quéru. He takes a critical view of the features previewed in the keynote at WWDC yesterday, and I thought I might comment on some of these points.

Today's my last day at Oracle. My work experience for my Uni degree is over today, and I'll be going back to normal Uni life next semester. I'm a bit sad really, as everyone here is really, really nice and extremely helpful. I also feel a bit bad, because I have all these responsibilities, and now it falls onto my boss to train another person up to do the tasks that I have been doing. I've tried to document it all and make it as easy as possible for someone to step in and take over, but I still feel bad.
But! I haven't walked away empty handed. My stomach has ballooned, because of all the biscuits I have eaten while here (endless supply in the cupboard), and I now have a firm knowledge of Oracle 9i Database, Oracle 9i Application Server and Oracle Discoverer 9i and 10g. I've also got a fair chunk on PL/SQL and SQL programming under my belt, which will hopefully come in handy, and I've done some 9iAS Portal development, too.
Oh well. I guess I'll just have to say my goodbyes and move on…
Brent Simmons has an insightful post on the whole Dashboard - Konfabulator debacle.
Robert Scoble has added some of his comments to the preview of Tiger by Apple. He points to a post by David Winer at scripting.com with his opinions on the preview.

As I mentioned yesterday, Arlo Rose, one of the developers for Konfabulator, has come out and criticised Apple for its Dashboard feature in Tiger.
It's a bit of a shame, really, as the developers will either need to find another program to develop or move to another platform to avoid losing their income.
