Pump that sucker up with maxed out memory, and you'll be surprised. It'll be like you got a CPU upgrade. While a G5 would be faster, even one of those would crawl without enough memory. I went from 640MB to 1GB of RAM in my 12" powerbook and it was like a brand new machine. It might be pricey, but it's cheaper than a new machine.
