As expected, updates to the PowerBooks were announced last night. MacNN has coverage.
Some highlights:
- 512mb RAM standard
- 5400 rpm hard drives standard (!)
- Bluetooth 2.0
Models with SuperDrives have also received a speed bump up to 8x, and the 12″ comes with a 64MB video card.
What's also cool is that the 17″ comes with a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, which can drive a 30 Cinema Display.
Am I going to upgrade? Nuh-uh. Despite the fact that they're almost twice the speed of my current machine (with a faster system bus), I don't think there will be enough of a performance increase compared to a PowerBook with a G5 (whenever that rolls around).
