An ode to the humble Kolhapuri

While in India I fell in love with the Kolhapuri (a type of sandal from the state of Maharastra, I believe):

We were lucky enough to find a pair in Delhi (thanks Anica!), and I have to say these are the most comfortable sandals/thongs/flip-flops I have ever had the pleasure of wearing!

Indian food – how I have missed thee!

We arrived in Luang Prabang today, and treated ourselves to some Indian food at "Nazim's" on the shores of the Mekong River:

Malai kofta, garlic naan and masala chai, oh my! Not as good as the real thing, but getting there. :)

Still loving Laos

We're still in Vang Vieng, soaking up the atmosphere and relaxing. What's not to love when we're surrounded by beautiful rivers and mountains?

We went tubing yesterday down the Nam Song (I think the name is right), which involved floating down the river on an inflatable rubber tyre, meeting other tourists, drinking and eating and swinging from great heights into the water. Quite possibly the most tourist-y activity I've done on this trip. But oh so fun!

The scenery along the river was breathtaking – I wish I had more time to enjoy it and take in the beauty. (It's very "thinky", to use Manasi's word.) I can't believe that there's this little slice of paradise tucked in between Thailand and Vietnam!
